VACANCY – SECURITY SERGEANT (EG9)

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons of Malawi origin to fill the vacant position of Security Sergeant – EG9 tenable at Kapichira Power Station. This post reports to the Security Officer.

JOB PURPOSE

To supervise and coordinate security operations at Kapichira Power Station by ensuring the effective protection of employees, Company assets, facilities, equipment and other resources against theft, unauthorized access, damage and other security threats. The position provides guidance and supervision to security personnel, enforces security procedures, monitors access control and patrol activities, and promptly reports security incidents in order to maintain a safe, secure and orderly working environment.

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION

• Supervising and coordinating daily security operations to ensure the effective protection of the Hydropower station and its assets.
• Planning, allocating and monitoring security guards duties and shift schedules to ensure adequate security coverage at all times.
• Conducting daily roll calls, inspections, and briefing/debriefing sessions for security personnel.
• Controlling access to the station by ensuring that only authorized persons, vehicles and materials are permitted entry.
• Protecting power generation equipment and other Company assets against theft, vandalism, sabotage and unauthorized access.
• Conducting routine and surprise patrols of the power station, perimeter fence and other critical installations to identify and address security risks.
• Monitoring compliance with Company security procedures and enforce established security standards.
• Investigating security incidents, accidents, breaches and suspicious activities and preparing accurate and comprehensive incident investigation reports.
• Recommending and implementing corrective and preventive measures to strengthen security controls and minimize future risks.
• Supervising, mentoring, coaching and evaluating the performance of security guards to ensure high standards of professionalism and discipline.

JOB SPECIFICATION

• Possess a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
• Diploma in Risk and Security Management Studies from an accredited institution.
• Hold a Malawi Police Service or Military Recruit Training Certificate.
• Hold a Malawi Police Service or Military Criminal Investigation Certificate.
• Minimum of five (5) years of security experience in the Military or Malawi Police Service, of which at least three (3) years must have been in a supervisory role.
• Practical experience in criminal investigations within the Military or Malawi Police Service will be an added advantage.
• Must be aged between 30 – 40 years.
