Nkhotakota Pottery Lodge invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Security Supervisor. We are looking for a disciplined, experienced, and highly motivated individual to lead our security team and ensure the safety and security of our guests, staff, assets, and property.
The ideal candidate must be a retired soldier from the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) with proven leadership ability, strong discipline, and experience in supervising security personnel.
Responsibilities or duties
- Plan, organise, lead, and supervise all security guards on duty.
- Prepare and manage duty rosters and work plans.
- Coordinate the deployment of security guards to designated posts.
- Evaluate the performance of security personnel and submit regular reports to management.
- Conduct routine patrols throughout the lodge to safeguard guests, staff, company property, and assets.
- Monitor, prevent, and respond to criminal or suspicious activities on the premises.
- Train, mentor, and induct new security guards while enforcing discipline and compliance with security procedures.
- Conduct investigations into security incidents and represent management when dealing with the Malawi Police Service or appearing in court where required.
- Ensure all night-shift guards remain alert by conducting regular radio communication checks.
- Conduct weekly foot drills/parades to maintain discipline, fitness, and operational readiness.
- Enforce the lodge’s zero-tolerance policy on alcohol by ensuring that no security guard, supervisor, or employee reports for duty carrying alcohol, under the influence of alcohol, or smelling of alcohol.
- Handle and supervise security dogs and conduct patrols within assigned sectors.
- Resolve conflicts professionally and maintain a safe and secure working environment.
- Perform any other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications or requirements
- Must be a retired soldier from the Malawi Defence Force (MDF).
- Minimum of a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE). Additional qualifications in security management, law enforcement, or a related field will be an added advantage.
- Strong leadership, planning, organisational, and team management skills.
- Good knowledge of security operations, investigations, emergency response procedures, and crime prevention.
- Ability to prepare professional reports and communicate effectively with management, the Malawi Police Service, and the courts.
- Experience in training and mentoring security personnel while maintaining discipline and professionalism.
- Physically fit and willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Excellent conflict resolution, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- High standards of integrity, discipline, professionalism, and reliability.
- Must have a clean disciplinary and criminal record.
Experience needed
Proven experience in supervising security personnel and managing security operations.
Experience in handling security dogs will be an added advantage.
