Zomba Diocese Health Commission operates under the Social Directorate of the Catholic Diocese of Zomba. Its mission is to advance the healing ministry of Jesus Christ by promoting human life and providing preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services in a holistic manner. This is achieved through participation in collaborative networks and partnerships, aligned with the needs and capacities of the communities, and in accordance with Catholic core values and principles, to ensure the delivery of the high- quality services, the Commission is seeking to recruit motivated and experienced individuals for the following vacant positions at one of its health facilities St. Robert Health Centre (Sitima).
Responsibilities or duties
Evaluating and promoting nutritional education to vulnerable populations in the community.
Main Duties
- Supervising Home Craft Workers under him/her.
- Compiling reports and submit to the Community Health Nurse/NMT/Ward-In-Charge.
- Weighing children, recognizing sick and underweight children.
- Referring sick and underweight children to a nurse or clinician on duty.
- Feeding sick and underweight children.
- Teaching mothers how to cook and serve healthy food for children of all ages.
- Teaching mothers / guardians about six food groups.
- Teaching about kitchen organization and hygiene.
- Visiting and teaching families in their homes.
- Participating in under-five and outreach clinics.
- Conducting cooking demonstrations during health talks and under five clinics.
- Maintaining records of children benefiting from nutrition services.
- Ordering and caring for vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, sick children, underweight, HIV + infants, children and mothers.
- Ordering and distribution of foods for under weight infants and children.
- Any other duties deem reasonable.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- MSCE
- Certificate in Home Craft
Experience needed
- At least 4 years experience at Grade M
