Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Reporting to: Head of Human Resources
The Senior Human Resources Business Partner is a strategic leadership role responsible for partnering Executive and Senior Leaders to translate business strategy into forward-looking people, leadership, and workforce plans. The role provides trusted counsel on organisational design, talent, succession, and culture, ensuring sustainable capability and long-term organisational effectiveness.
This role operates with significant autonomy and authority within the assigned business area and is expected to influence executive decision-making through insight, judgement, and strong governance discipline.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Business Partnering & People Planning
- Lead the development and execution of strategic people and workforce plans aligned to business and financial objectives.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on organisational design, leadership effectiveness, and capability strategy.
- Identify future workforce and leadership risks and recommend proactive, strategic interventions.
- Translate business strategy into robust workforce, succession, and capability plans.
- Provide data-driven insights and commercial judgement to inform executive decisions.
Talent, Succession & Capability Management
- Own and drive the end-to-end talent and succession strategy for the business area.
- Ensure critical role coverage and leadership pipeline sustainability.
- Drive performance differentiation and clarity around expectations and outcomes.
- Partner with Learning & Development to design targeted capability interventions.
Culture & Leadership Effectiveness
- Act as steward of a high-performance, accountable culture.
- Influence leadership behaviours and reinforce organisational values.
- Identify and address systemic cultural or capability issues at root-cause level.
- Support leadership teams in building engaged, effective, and aligned teams.
- Ensure recruitment strategy aligns to long-term capability and succession priorities.
- Lead workforce planning with appropriate governance and controls.
- Challenge structural growth and promote sustainable organisational design.
- Partner with leaders on senior and leadership appointments to ensure quality and rigour.
Employee Relations & Risk Management
- Lead complex employee relations matters in line with policy and employment legislation.
- Provide practical, risk-aware guidance to leaders on disciplinary, grievance, and conduct issues.
- Identify recurring trends and escalate systemic people risks appropriately.
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Strong executive presence and influencing capability
- Advanced commercial and business acumen
- Strategic workforce and organisational design expertise
- Data-driven decision-making
- Sound judgement, integrity, and governance discipline
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related discipline.
- 8–12+ years progressive HR experience, including substantial HR Business Partnering exposure.
- Proven experience partnering at Executive or Senior Leadership level.
- Demonstrated success in delivering strategic people, talent, and succession initiatives.
- Experience in a regulated, complex, or financial services environment preferred.
