Overview
The Transcriber will work as part of the Implementation Science Team at Partners in Hope. This position will be responsible for transcribing/translating IDIs, FDGs and Data collection tools. Thewill meet the needs of short-term qualitative projects within the Implementation Science Department.
Primary Responsibilities
- Transcribe IDI or FDG audios from local languages to English.
- Translate and back translate data collection tools.
- Submit transcripts and reports within specific timeline as requested.
- Ensure detailed, accurate and organized transcribing/translating of materials
- Ensure translations are completed according to protocol and always adhere to ethical research procedures.
- Conduct data quality checks, including reviewing transcripts in line with interview guides and proof leading transcripts, where necessary.
- Communicate with the research team about issues emerging for IDIs and provide feedback to Field Assistants as requested.
- Ensure data security of audios, transcripts and any research material.
- Serve as a member of the research team and participate in meetings as scheduled and requested by the research team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Social Science, Humanities, Public Health, or any other relevant field. Those with a degree or higher will have an added advantage.
- Minimum 1-year experience working on research projects, preferably in a related role. Those with experience doing similar work on a public health project will have an added advantage.
- Experience in qualitative data collection (FDGs, IDIs, KIIs, etc).
