Background

Marymount Catholic Secondary School was opened on 29th January, 1963. The school is located on the Southern part of the plot of land owned by the Catholic Diocese of Mzuzu. It is situated along the Chimaliro Road, about eight kilometres from the hub of Mzuzu City. Although the school is based in Mzuzu, its catchment area covers all districts in Malawi.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified, committed Christians to fill the vacant positions tenable at Marymount Catholic Secondary School.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be answerable to the School Manager through the Finance Manager. He/she will be responsible for:

  • Managing daily financial transactions including account payables and account receivables.
  • Performing monthly bank reconciliations and reconciling various ledger accounts to ensure all records are accurate and complete.
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, providing accurate financial data and insights for decision making.
  • Preparing and processing staff salaries, pensions, gratuities and other payroll related documents.
  • Assisting in the annual budget preparation process, monitoring income and expenditures against the budget and analyzing variances.
  • Maintaining and updating school’s fixed asset register ensuring that all new properties, plant and equipment are correctly tagged.
  • Maintaining accurate electronic and physical filing systems for all financial transactions including receipts, invoices and statutory documents.
  • Gathering and organizing financial documentation to support both internal and external audits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy from a reputable and accredited university.
  • Those with ICAM diploma and a minimum of three-year hands on experience in a similar capacity as above are encouraged to apply.
  • Members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi are also encouraged to apply.
  • Must be between the age of 25–35 years.
  • Must be a practicing Christian.
  • Must be sober-minded and honest.
  • Must be computer literate especially in Accounting Software.
  • Must be a self-starter.
