Position Summary

Nalipiri Eco Resort is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Accountant to support financial management, reporting, compliance, internal controls, revenue tracking and cost control across resort operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain accurate books of accounts and financial records.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports, budgets and forecasts.
  • Manage bank reconciliations, petty cash, payments, receipts and cash-flow records.
  • Process payroll and statutory obligations, including PAYE, VAT, withholding tax and other MRA requirements.
  • Monitor revenue, stock, procurement and cost controls within resort operations.
  • Manage supplier accounts, invoices, debtors, creditors and payment schedules.
  • Support internal controls, audit preparation, compliance, filing and document safekeeping.
  • Advise management on financial performance, risks and cost-saving opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Professional qualification or progress toward ICAM, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and internal controls.
  • Good understanding of Malawi tax laws and statutory compliance requirements.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years’ practical accounting experience.
  • Hospitality, tourism, hotel, lodge, restaurant or resort experience is an added advantage.
  • Experience in stock control, cost management, payroll and management reporting is desirable.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced service environment.

COMPUTER LITERACY

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, tables, reconciliations and financial schedules.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, email and digital filing systems.
  • Ability to use Sage or similar accounting software.
  • Competence in spreadsheets for budgeting, payroll, stock and cash-flow tracking.
