WHO WE ARE:
Inter Aide is an international NGO specialized in the implementation of rural development programs.
In Malawi, Inter Aide has been working since 1992 with particularly poor rural communities in eleven districts in the Central and Southern regions. Its interventions focus on Health, Water points Maintenance and Agricultural development. In Lilongwe District, the Agroecology program began in 2016 aiming to improve agricultural production for smallholder families by promoting the dissemination and adoption of agro-ecological practices, agroforestry, and the healthy management of trees planted in and around agricultural plots with degraded soils.
THE MISSION:
Under the direct supervision of the Country Director, the main responsibility of the Agroecology Development Technical Assistant is to support the adaptation of the overall project implementation and monitoring and evaluation strategies. The position will be based in Lilongwe.
In this role, he / she will be responsible for:
- Defining the strategic direction of the program and geographical deployment (identification of future intervention areas.
- Ensuring the coherence and relevance of the activities implemented in response to the needs;
- Ensuring the quality of technical training offered to farmers and the team;
- Ensuring compliance with the objective of supporting the most disadvantaged farmers;
- Supervising, evaluating and strengthening the local team: coordinators and field workers;
- Coaching and mentoring of the monitoring and evaluation team, adjust the M&E approaches and tools and carrying out new studies;
- Reporting to the headquarters, through the Country Director and the Administrative and Financial Manager (monthly accounts and regular activity reports):
- Travel frequently to villages in the intervention zone, and occasionally to other regions of the country (exchange visits, prospecting, etc.).
REQUIRED PROFILE
- Agricultural Engineering Degree, Master Degree or equivalent (specialization in agricultural development) with a strong orientation on Agroecology.
- A minimum of three years of direct experience in setting up and monitoring support-advisory systems in rural areas, as well as in Agroecology.
- Ability to manage a team, excellent leadership skills, good external relations skills.
- Similar experience in other developing countries is a plus Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills,
- Fluent in English (written/oral). Fluency in French is an added advantage.
