Background
The National Audit Office (NAO) is a Supreme Audit Institution established under the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi and the Public Audit Act, mandated to provide independent assurance to Parliament and the public on the prudent use and management of public resources in order to promote transparency, accountability and good governance.Malawi business directory
The Office conducts Financial, Compliance, Forensic, Performance and Information Systems audits across Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Local Authorities, Statutory Corporations and all public institutions.
The Office is, therefore, inviting suitably qualified, competent and result-oriented individuals to apply for various vacant positions that have arisen within the National Audit Office.
Purpose for the post
To provide strategic and technical leadership in the management and execution of audit operations
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of audit policies, procedures, and standards
- Assist in planning and coordinating performance audit engagements
- Conducting risk assessments and materiality assessments
- Overseeing audit teams and staff, providing guidance and support
- Reviewing audit reports and findings
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Deputy Auditor General
- Preparing and submitting quarterly work plans and progress reports to the Deputy Auditor General
- Supervising and mentoring audit teams and staff.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of a Master’s degree of Business Administration, Social sciences (Economics, Sociology, etc.), Engineering, Humanities, Accountancy or Auditing
- Must have Professional certification by relevant Professional body
- Thorough knowledge in public service performance audit standards, government accounting principles and financial legislation
- Minimum of 6 years’ post graduate progressive experience in performance auditing with at least 4 years at managerial level or as Chief Performance Auditor, grade in the public service.
