Purpose of the Job:
- Compliance monitoring through the inspection and enforcement processes.
Key Duties
- Assist in planning, coordinating and implementing inspection and enforcement activities in line with approved procedures and work plans
- Assist in inspection of water resources users and verify compliance with license conditions, abstraction limits and other regulatory requirements
- Assist in the investigations into effluent discharge, water use practices and other activities that may affect water resources control and management
- Supervise and conduct the collection and handling of water samples, inspection data and related field records for laboratory analysis and follow-up action
- Prepare preliminary inspection findings, non-compliance notices, and recommendations for enforcement actions for review and approval by the Inspection Officer
- Assist in monitoring catchment areas and other regulated entities and recommend appropriate interventions where non-compliance or environmental degradation is identified
- Taking care of inspection equipment and materials, and ensure their proper maintenance, availability and use during field operations
- Assist in conducting civic education and stakeholder awareness activities on compliance requirements, water resources regulations and good water use practices
- Calculate annual charges for water resources use and related regulatory obligations as part of enhancing revenue forecasting and compliance monitoring
- Supervise the day-to-day fieldwork, data entry, and equipment maintenance tasks of the Inspection Assistant
- Compile and submit periodic inspection, compliance and enforcement reports
Minimum Qualification and Experience
- Diploma in Environmental Science, Water Resources Management, Natural Resources Management, Engineering, Laboratory Science/Technology, Geography or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years' relevant work experience in inspections, compliance monitoring, water resources management, environment management, natural resources management or a related field.
