JOB SUMMARY
The Back Office Teller is responsible for processing and recording customer transactions in the core banking system, supporting account opening and loan disbursement activities, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Account Opening & Maintenance
- Capture new customer accounts in the banking system in accordance with approved documentation.
- File and maintain account opening forms and supporting documents accurately.
- Maintain and update account opening registers and records.
- Ensure all account opening documentation complies with KYC and due diligence requirements.
Loan Disbursement & Processing
- Capture approved loan disbursements in the core banking system accurately and timely.
- Ensure loan disbursements are supported by properly approved loan documentation.
- File loan agreements and supporting documents systematically.
- Maintain and update loan registers and disbursement records.
Records Management & Registers
- Maintain accurate manual and electronic registers for account openings and loans.
- Ensure proper filing, safe custody, and retrieval of customer records.
- Support audits and inspections by providing required documentation.
Operational Controls & Compliance
- Adhere to internal controls, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of customer and institutional information.
- Report system errors, irregularities, or documentation gaps to the supervisor promptly.
Team Support
- Work closely with front-office tellers, enquiries clerks, and Credit officer to ensure smooth operations.
- Support end-of-day and operational reconciliation processes when required.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Good understanding of banking systems and documentation
- Organizational and record-keeping skills
- High level of integrity and confidentiality
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum diploma in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Degree in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is an advantage
- Experience in back-office banking operations or data entry is preferred
