NICO Technologies has a vacancy for a Business Applications Lead, tenable at its Head Office in Blantyre. This is a management role responsible for leading the development, delivery, and support of enterprise business applications, while building, mentoring, and managing a team of application developers, working closely alongside the Solution Architect and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent’s key responsibilities shall, amongst others, include:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and support of business applications using Microsoft Power Apps (Canvas and Model-Driven), Power Automate, and Dataverse.
  • Provide technical and people leadership to a team of application developers.
  • Build, mentor, and manage a competent development team, ensuring skills transfer and continuous professional development.
  • Translate approved business and functional requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable application solutions.
  • Implement and enforce application development standards, best practices, security, and governance frameworks.
  • Review application designs and builds to ensure quality, performance, and compliance with architectural standards.
  • Work closely with the Solution Architect to ensure alignment between solution design and application delivery.
  • Plan, allocate, and manage development tasks, timelines, and delivery commitments.
  • Oversee integration of business applications with internal and external systems, including finance and operational platforms.
  • Identify, manage, and escalate application delivery, technical, and resource risks to senior management.
  • Ensure all applications comply with security, data protection, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with business users, business analysts, Quality Assurance teams, and vendors throughout the solution lifecycle.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of application development practices, documentation, and tooling.

Required Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Strong experience in enterprise business application development.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Good understanding of application architecture, workflows, and system integration.
  • Knowledge of secure application design and governance principles.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in Microsoft Power Platform, Dynamics 365, or Azure will be an added advantage.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in business application development.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a technical leadership or supervisory role.
  • Experience working in an enterprise or regulated environment will be an added advantage.
