Role Overview
We are seeking a driven and knowledgeable Business Development Officer – Monitoring, Evaluation and Data Systems to lead market engagement and client acquisition for our information management solutions focused on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), project tracking, and data systems.
This role is best suited for a professional with a strong understanding of M&E frameworks, data management, and development program operations, who can confidently engage organizations and demonstrate how digital systems improve reporting, compliance, and performance management.

Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Client Acquisition

  • Identify and engage NGOs, INGOs, donor-funded projects, and government programs that require structured M&E and data management systems
  • Lead direct outreach through meetings, walk-ins, referrals, and presentations
  • Build and maintain a database of prospective organizations and decision-makers
  • Manage the sales pipeline from initial engagement to onboarding

Solution Positioning & Demonstrations

  • Present digital M&E and data management solutions in a way that addresses real operational challenges
  • Translate technical system capabilities into practical benefits for project, M&E, and finance teams
  • Conduct tailored demonstrations aligned to donor reporting and compliance requirements

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with M&E Managers, Project Managers, Program Directors, and Finance Managers
  • Participate in sector meetings, workshops, and development forums
  • Support partnerships with consultants, NGOs, and implementing partners

Reporting & Coordination

  • Track leads, meetings, demonstrations, and conversions
  • Prepare regular business development progress reports
  • Work closely with technical teams during client onboarding and pilots

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Development Studies, Economics, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in M&E, data management, project management, or development programming
  • Strong understanding of indicators, results frameworks, and data collection processes
  • Experience working within NGOs, government programs, or donor-funded environments

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong grasp of M&E concepts and data systems
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to articulate digital solutions in non-technical language
  • Self-driven with strong organizational and follow-up skills
  • Engage accommodation providers, lodges, guesthouses, hotels, and travel operators across Malawi
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with tourism and hospitality stakeholders
  • Identify new market opportunities and partnerships within the travel and tourism ecosystem
  • Lead the onboarding of accommodation and travel service providers onto digital platforms
  • Support clients with profile setup, pricing, availability, and content uploads
  • Ensure clients understand platform features and operational workflows
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for onboarded clients
  • Promote platform value to potential clients and convert interest into active participation
  • Maintain a database of tourism and travel service providers
  • Track onboarding progress, client activity, and retention
  • Support promotional campaigns and seasonal market drives
  • Provide regular reports on onboarding numbers, active clients, and market feedback
  • Coordinate with technical and marketing teams to address platform improvements
  • Gather client insights to inform product enhancements
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence engaging clients in the field and through follow-ups
  • Basic digital literacy and ability to work with online platforms
  • Strong organizational and reporting skills
  • Willingness to travel and work with diverse tourism stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Hospitality Management, Business, Marketing, or related field
  • At least 2–3 years’ experience in tourism, hospitality, sales, or business development
  • Familiarity with accommodation operations, booking processes, and tourism services
  • Experience working with hotels, lodges, guesthouses, or travel operators
