Beatrice interiors is a newly established carpentry and joinery business in mzuzu city. the services offered include: furniture, ceiling installation, swing and gazebo installation, house roofing, wedding, corporate, birthday party and engagement decorations, interior space organization and painting. Beatrice interiors have the following vacancies on full time and part time.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Making upholstery, boards and pallet/diy furniture such as beds, chest drawers, cabinets, sofa sets, dining sets, swing, sink holders, shoe, dish and clothes rack, Ward rope, tv stand, picture and mirror frames, window sashes, doors and door frames, office and school desks
  • Ceiling installation. (i) Structural/Architectural like conventional or flat, tray, coffered, vaulted, beam and Coved. (ii) Suspended and false ceilings like Suspended/Drop, Stretch and Aluminum ceiling.
  • Repairing, Reuse and Recycle of old furniture and pallets but also house roofing like: Hip and Cross Hipped roof, Flat, Gable, Pyramid,Saltbox,Skillion,Dormer and Bonnet roof.
  • Preparing paints and painting houses, fences, equipment and household utensils.
  • Making partitions, gazebos and indoor or outdoor stages for functions like wedding, engagements, birthday parties and corporate functions. Decoration installation. Mirror installation on furniture and houses/shops.
  • Purchasing timbers and materials needed with Procurement and administration officer.
  • Ensuring safety procedures are followed and accounting for materials and equipment’s.

Qualifications or requirements 

Ability to calculate surface areas of various structures and produce an accurate quotation.

Ability to read and interpret plans/ architecture drawings and interior space organization.

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Strong coordination and organization skills and also basic proficient electricity experience and skills
  • Ability to manage, teach and mentor her/his team
  • Making furniture and partitions including house roofing.
  • Ceiling installation and painting of houses and fences
  • Proficient experience in using power hand tools and manual hand tools.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Level 2 of TEVETA Carpentry and Joinery certificate with 5 years’ work experience in a busy workshop or company/business. Those with level 3 of TEVETA Carpentry and joinery with 3 years of experience in busy workshop or company/business would have an added advantage.

This is the full time position where the incumbent will lead hi/her team to deliver quality services to client effectively and efficiently in time. The incumbent will receive monthly salary and allowance during field work outside the district of working and during decorations of weddings and engagements.
