Limbe Leaf Tobacco Company Limited is seeking a qualified, experienced, and motivated individual to fill the position of Chemical Laboratory Analyst in Lilongwe.
Reporting to the Quality Control Shift Coordinator, the Chemical Laboratory Analyst is responsible for supervising the chemical laboratory activities involved in analyzing tobacco, and related components. The role ensures that all laboratory procedures comply with company guidelines and meet customer requirements in alignment with Integrated Management System (IMS) standards.
Responsibilities or duties
- Conduct daily chemical analyses in accordance with established procedures.
- Update all relevant dashboards or templates promptly with analytical results.
- Train and supervise shift sample attendants to ensure accurate and efficient sample handling.
- Support the Shift Coordinator in preparing Repairs and Maintenance (R&M) requirements.
- Monitor and control the utilization of laboratory consumables.
- Ensure cleanliness of the chemical laboratory and maintain effective housekeeping standards.
- Implement Environmental, Health, Safety and Quality (EHSQ) programs and adhere to all safe working procedures.
- Prepare daily reports on chemical laboratory performance and conduct monthly risk assessments.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- A minimum of a Diploma in Chemical Laboratory Science from a recognized institution.
- Strong self-motivation with the ability to perform effectively under high pressure.
- Flexibility and willingness to work in demanding operational environments.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and supervisory skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to work effectively with data.
Experience needed
At least two years of work experience preferably in a tobacco processing factory.
- Conduct daily chemical analyses in accordance with established procedures.
