CLINICAL ASSOCIATE – Obstetrics and Gynecology (1)
Reporting to: Medical Officer in Charge Location: Zomba
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Managing both routine and emergency patient needs.
- Conducting routine examinations including gynecological screenings, Pap smears, pelvic exams, and breast exams.
- Providing obstetric Care including care throughout the prenatal, natal, and postnatal periods, including monitoring fetal health and managing new mothers' recovery.
- With coordination of the Specialist, identifying and managing conditions such as infections, hormonal disorders, menstrual problems, and infertility.
- Developing and implementing patient management plans, including medication prescriptions and coordinating referrals to specialist services.
- Performing and assisting in Specialist procedures such as Cesarean sections, MVA, uterine evacuation etc.
- Supporting and assisting pregnant women with labour and delivery by monitoring progress of labour, maternal wellbeing and assisting with safe baby delivery.
- Performing and interpreting diagnostic tests like laboratory results and ultrasound scans.
- Educating women on family planning, contraception, fertility, and menopause management.
- Maintaining accurate and comprehensive electronic medical records (EMR), including clinical progress notes and discharge summaries.
- Adhering to infection control guidelines and ensure all patient care is delivered with the highest degree of professionalism.
Educational qualifications experience and attributes
- Bachelors of Science in Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Three years practical experience in a busy hospital.
- Proven competencies working in clinical care skills and interpersonal communication skills.
- High level of work organization, self-motivation, driving for performance improvement, and flexibility in approach and attitude.
- Registered with the Medical Council of Malawi and in good standing.
