Background

Zomba Diocese Health Commission operates under the Social Directorate of the Catholic Diocese of Zomba. Its mission is to advance the healing ministry of Jesus Christ by promoting human life and providing preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services in a holistic manner. This is achieved through participation in collaborative networks and partnerships, aligned with the needs and capacities of the communities, and in accordance with Catholic core values and principles, to ensure the delivery of the high- quality services, the Commission is seeking to recruit motivated and experienced individuals for the following vacant positions at one of its health facilities St. Robert Health Centre (Sitima).

Job Summary

The clinical Technician aim diagnosing and prescribe the right treatment to patients to ensure that patients receive equitable, sustainable and quality care regardless of their personal characteristics. The also involved in providing health education that may assist patients and their families to make informed choices.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing patients problems and prescribing the right treatment
  • Conducting ward rounds of admitted patient to review possible discharges as well as treatment
  • Providing advice to patients on how to take medication to ensure effectiveness
  • Supervising staff under him in their routine daily work.
  • Ordering drugs and ensure that drugs are economically used and that dangerous drugs are properly recorded
  • Preparing work schedule for member of staff under his supervision and monthly returns of patients
  • Selecting patients to be reviewed by the General Medical Officer on his routine visits and send urgent cases for General Medical Officer action
  • Performing normal surgical operations and attending to theatre emergencies
  • Ensure correct and complete recording of data in relevant HIMS registers and instruments
  • Ensure timely processing of data and dissemination to all relevant stakeholders including timely submission of HIMS report to designated supervisor
  • Conducting auditing of patients files to ensure quality health services
  • Performs any other duties assigned from time to time

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine from reputable training institution
  • Registered with Medical Council of Malawi

Knowledge, Ability and Skills

  • Well conversant with the health system in Malawi
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Effective communication skills
  • Problem identification and solving skills
  • Empathetic and friendly
