WAY Ministries wishes to recruit highly qualified and experienced person to serve in the position of COMMUNITY CREDIT OFFICER.
As a front-line position, Community Credit Officer works directly with the communities to implement credit activities and ensure the quality of credit management in accordance with the standards and goals of microfinance within the area in charge. The successful candidate will report directly to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities or duties
- Monitor loan performance, ensure timely repayments, and initiate collections to maintain high repayment rates.
- Carry out client expansion activities, propaganda, advocacy according to operation Plan.
- Carry out orientation trainings for all new clients, credit groups/clusters established in the communities in accordance with the regulations and guidelines of the microfinance.
- Strictly comply with credit regulations/policies.
- Select clients, review loan, carefully appraise loan before submitting to the Loan Review Board for approval to disburse.
- Regularly monitor the loan in groups/cluster to ensure the publicity and transparency.
- Accurately prepare the monthly loan collection plan of every client, group/cluster within the areas in charge and submit to the Executive Director for approval.
- Strictly monitor the loan payment to ensure no overdue debt in accordance with the cash management policy.
- Closely check and monitor the loan using purpose of clients by regularly visiting clients before and after disbursement.
- Keep all records and relevant documents in accordance with the Program regulation.
- Support other staff officers in case of overdue debt or loan officer’s absence.
- Propose and apply feasible measures to prevent and/or terminate overdue debt (if any) within the areas in charge.
- Build a monthly individual plan and get approval from the Executive Director, contribute to the effective implementation of overall plan.
- Prepare and update accurately and timely all reports including loan collection plan, report of overdue debt or/and late payment, loan outstanding.
- Take part in making monthly/quarterly/annual operation plan.
- Actively participate in general monitoring/evaluation.
- Work plan is developed and approved by the Executive Director.
- Relevant reports are completed according to regulations with high quality.
- Comply with relevant regulations/policies such as finance.
Qualifications or requirements
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Economics, Business Administration
- Communication skills in spoken and written English as well as Chichewa.
- Ability to work with vulnerable populations and have a customer service oriented mindset.
- Ability to establish good rapport and relationship with Village Chief, Village Development Committees (VDC) and representatives.
- Ability to work independently at times without constant supervision.
- Ability to travel to peri-urban areas surrounding Blantyre (Note: Machinjiri / Nkolokoti and Ndirande).
- Computer skills: Google Sheets/Docs/MS Word/MS Excel/MS Power Point and general Internet skills such as web browsing and email.
- Active, adaptable and having team spirit.
- Assertive, creative, patient and being integrity.
- Honest, enthusiastic and inquisitive.
- Willingness to support articulate and demonstrate WAY Ministries core values in meaningful ways to children and communities.
Experience needed
2 years experience in areas of Micro finance, budgeting and reporting, and partner monitoring.
