Background information about the job or company (e.g., role context, company overview)

This role implements credit processes, systems, and controls, and carries overall responsibility for the quality of the loan portfolio and the maintenance of the loan book, including collections. The incumbent is also individually accountable for the execution of tactical business plans at operational level.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Executing tactical business plans (derived from the BU Strategy) at the operational level.
  • Leading a team of credit administrators to design, build, and track credit and credit optimisation strategies that drive profit growth within Board-approved constraints.
  • Managing loan origination using the OMFIN decision engine.
  • Overseeing collections management activities.
  • Owning operational efficiency and quality by managing an operations balanced scorecard covering credit, people, process, and customer dimensions.
  • Integrating decision-making across credit, people, process, and customer spectrums.
  • Maintaining a robust credit and operational control environment.
  • Providing operational insight and best-practice guidance within the internal environment.
  • Building effective working relationships with peers and colleagues across the business.
  • Ensuring accurate recording and reconciliation of all credit data.
  • Preparing, analysing, and monitoring budgets, and assessing the impact of operating conditions, changes in the business environment, and policy or budget adjustments on business unit performance.
  • Liaising with internal and external auditors and implementing agreed audit findings.
  • Preparing and submitting HFM reports.
  • Guiding and directing the development, production, and credit aspects of the organisation’s products and services.
  • Managing direct reports and driving team performance.
  • Supporting the delivery of strategic projects.
  • Contributing to and supporting the strategic direction of the business
