OVERVIEW
The Public Private Partnership Commission (PPPC) is inviting Expressions of Interest from qualified individual consultants for the position of Data Centre Cloud Architecture under the Digital Malawi Acceleration Project, funded by the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank.
The project aims to increase access to and inclusive use of the internet while strengthening the Government of Malawi’s capacity to deliver digitally enabled public services. The successful consultant will be based at the National Data Centre in Lilongwe and will support the Department of e-Government in designing, planning, and implementing cloud solutions and strengthening digital infrastructure.
The successful candidate will be engaged for two (2) years, renewable annually based on satisfactory performance, with the possibility of contract extension.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in cloud architecture, including at least 2 years in a data centre environment.
- Professional certifications such as:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
- Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
- Google Professional Cloud Architect.
- (Added advantage.)
- Experience with hybrid cloud environments.
- Strong knowledge of cloud security practices, including:
- Identity and Access Management (IAM).
- Encryption.
- Firewalls.
- Strong understanding of data centre technologies, including:
- Servers.
- Storage.
- Networking.
- Virtualization.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS).
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
DUTIES
- Design, plan, and implement cloud solutions within the National Data Centre.
- Support the Data Centre Manager in executing assigned responsibilities.
- Ensure compliance with industry best practices in cloud architecture and data centre operations.
- Support implementation of secure and interoperable digital government infrastructure.
- Deliver high-quality outputs within agreed timelines.
- Work collaboratively with the Department of e-Government technical and management teams.
- Design, plan, and implement cloud solutions within the National Data Centre.
- Support the Data Centre Manager in executing assigned responsibilities.
- Ensure compliance with industry best practices in cloud architecture and data centre operations.
- Support implementation of secure and interoperable digital government infrastructure.
