Unitrans Malawi Limited, a prominent employer in the sugar and agriculture sector wants to recruit a suitably qualified person of Malawian origin to fill the above posts which have fallen vacant at its Dwangwa Depot in Nkhota-kota.
DIESEL MECHANIC
Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the successful candidate will be required to: –
- Service company vehicles to predetermined standard and checklists.
- Attend breakdowns and carry out the necessary repairs.
- Apply health and safety rules and regulations in all aspects of the jobs.
- Ensure vehicles are kept in roadworthy conditions as required by road traffic regulations and company policy.
- Always maintain a safe and clean working place.
- Administer regular reporting (updates) to management regarding breakdowns, services, etc
- Perform other duties incidental to auto-mobile mechanical function as may be assigned from time to time.
Applicants’ Specifications
- Must have a minimum of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
- Grade 1 National Trade Test Certificate (or its equivalent from a recognized learning institution) with competence in Motor vehicle mechanics.
- Minimum of five years hands on experience in a similar position in a busy organization.
- Those with experience in repairing heavy-plant machinery, ie. Caterpillars, John Deere, JCB and Excavators and multi-skilled will have an added advantage.
- Understand and practice preventive maintenance;
- Able to work independently and solve auto-mobile mechanical problems effectively;
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Able to work in shifts and with little or no supervision;
