About the Employer / Role

The Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) is a global philanthropic organization committed to improving the lives of children and young people. As part of its Africa Girl Capital Strategy, CIFF is seeking an experienced Director to lead Child Protection and Economic Empowerment programmes in Malawi. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, oversee high-impact investments, strengthen partnerships with government and development partners, and ensure sustainable interventions that improve opportunities for girls and young women.

Key Requirements

  • Recognized subject-matter expert in child protection, economic empowerment or livelihoods.
  • Extensive experience delivering programmes, preferably in Malawi.
  • Strong understanding of the African development context.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing strategic programmes.
  • Strong analytical, financial and business planning skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation and partnership-building abilities.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and supporting staff development.
  • Experience improving business processes and programme effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion and organizational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead CIFF's Child Protection and Economic Empowerment strategy in Malawi.
  • Drive implementation of the Ending Child Marriage investment portfolio.
  • Design innovative, evidence-based programmes that advance Girl Capital Africa.
  • Develop annual strategic plans, objectives and investment pipelines.
  • Manage programme performance, monitoring, evaluation and risk management.
  • Mentor Managers and Analysts to strengthen programme delivery.
  • Build partnerships with government ministries, NGOs, research institutions, donors and regional organizations.
  • Promote localization by increasing partnerships with local organizations.
  • Identify co-funding opportunities to expand successful programmes.
  • Represent CIFF in sector leadership, research, advocacy and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Provide leadership within the CIFF Africa Leadership Team and contribute to organizational decision-making.
