A. INTRODUCTION
The Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (MITC) is a statutory corporation established under the Investment and Export Promotion Act of 2024. MITC is mandated to oromote and facilitate investment, exports promotion and facilitation, establishment of industrial parks and special economic zones to spur industrial growth. MITC also provides one-stop investment and trade facilitation services aimed at improving the ease of doing business in Malawi and supporting sustainable economic growth.

“To promote and develop Malawian exports, attract and facilitate domestic and foreign investment, and support a conducive business environment in Malawi.”
MITC is inviting applications from suitably qualified, experienced, and result-oriented Malawian professionals to fill the following Director-level positions tenable at its Head Office in Lilongwe on a three (3) year renewable performance-based contract.
Who should apply
MITC is looking for young to middle aged, dynamic and passionate, self starter candidates with hands on experience in local, regional and international trade and investment. The candidates should be able to interface with Chambers of Commerce and other business support institutions of various countries. They should be conversant with regional and international trade and investment protocols with strong negotiation skills.
DIRECTOR OF TRADE PROMOTION AND FACILITATION (MITC2)
Reporting to : The Chief Executive Officer
Job Purpose
To lead and manage MITC’s trade promotion and facilitation programmes aimed at increasing Malawi’s exports, supporting exporters, expanding market access, and strengthening trade linkages locally and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and management of the Trade Promotion and Facilitation Department.
- Develop and implement export promotion strategies, programmes, and market development initiatives.
- Coordinate local and international trade fairs. trade missions, exhibitions, and promotional
- Facilitate export market access and provide trade information and advisory services to exporters.
- Build and maintain relationships with exporters, industry associations, government institutions, and international trade partners.
- Coordinate follow-up and management of trade leads, buyer inquiries, and trade opportunities.
- Support exporters in accessing certification, financing, logistics, and other trade support services.
- Monitor trends in trade and export development and recommend policy and strategic interventions.
- Supervise departmental staff, performance management, and capacity development initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s Degree in International Trade, Marketing, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ relevant professional experience, including at least five (5) years at Senior management level.
- Demonstrated experience in trade promotion, export development, or international business.
- Strong leadership, excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and analytical skills.
Appointment and Remuneration
The successful candidate shall be offered a negotiable performance based contract for a period of three (3) years subject to renewal on satisfactory performance
