Local Government Service Commission in Malawi periodically recruits professionals for various district, municipal, and city councils on three-year contracts.
Responsibilities or duties
Responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing all engineering activities for the district, including the design, construction, and inspection of public works and capital projects .
Directs the planning, engineering, and construction of district facilities, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, plans, and district standards .
Researches, analyzes, and prepares a variety of technical reports relating to current and long-range district projects for non-engineering personnel and boards .
Prepares requests for proposals, bid documents, construction plans, and specifications. Reviews bids and recommends awards .
Develops and administers department budgets, develops and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency, and may supervise engineering staff .
