Jhpiego is seeking qualified District Technical Managers to serve as the primary point of contact with  Malawi Ministry of Health (MOH) District Health Officials. These managers will be responsible for coordinating the project’s life-saving maternal, newborn, child health, and nutrition services, and for implementing work plan activities across their respective districts.

The District Technical Managers will work closely with local partners and District Health Management Teams (DHMTs) to ensure effective collaboration and service delivery. Positions are available across districts in all three regions of Malawi. The role reports to the Regional Coordinator and includes supervisory responsibilities over district teams.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, monitor, and report on project district level activities to deliver life-saving maternal, newborn, and child health and immunization and nutrition services in line with government priorities, evidence based strategies and internationally recognized best practices.
  • Help to ensure coordination of partners to optimize efficiencies and maximize impact of services in supported sites working closely with district management teams.
  • Support the implementation of district-wide multi-site QI initiatives, with public and private facilities focused on critical quality of care (QoC) gaps in essential MNCH+N services
  • Provide ongoing technical oversight and ensure quality of health service delivery across the MNCH continuum working in close coordination with the Regional Coordinators, Technical Advisors and Technical Director.
  • Establish and maintain productive working relationships with MOH counterparts in the districts and relevant implementing partners, and the local partners.
  • Prepare district level technical and program reports and contribute to regular monitoring and evaluation (M&E) data collection and reporting.
  • Work with sites and teams around commodity procurement and security,
  • Coordinate local partners’ activities to ensure quality and consistency of technical activities across partners and supported service delivery points.
  • Regularly travel to supported sites to monitor life-saving health service delivery activities and provide real-time feedback to improve the quality and efficiency of project operations.
  • Manage staff performance at the district level, including setting clear expectations, conducting regular performance reviews, and providing on going mentorship
  • Oversee district-level financial management, ensuring responsible use of resources, compliance with financial policies, and timely reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • Clinical degree/master’s in public health or related field (health administration, public administration, business administration) with 5 to 6 years’ work experience.
  • Technical expertise or experience managing project activities in at least two of the following technical areas: maternal, newborn and child health, nutrition, and immunization; quality improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to lead efficient project management processes and systems across a district-wide, decentralized program.
  • Proven monitoring of work plan activities, particularly those implemented through local partners.
  • Previous experience working at the district level in Malawi.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to all project implementation areas across the three regions of Malawia
