Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Malawi (BCMCF-M) is a not-for-profit organization working in partnership with the Malawi Government in the health sector. Our Mission is to provide high-quality, high-impact, highly ethical pediatric and family-centered health care, professional health training and clinical research, focused on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, malnutrition and other conditions impacting the health and well-being of children and families worldwide.
BCMCF-M is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of:
Position: Driver
Contract Duration: 1 year (renewable based on performance and funding availability)
Location: Baylor Foundation Malawi based at Kamuzu Central Hospital
Reports to: Administration Officer
STATUS: Full time (40 hours per week).
Position description and responsibilities
To provide safe, reliable, and timely transportation of staff, clients, and goods while ensuring proper maintenance, cleanliness, and security of the assigned vehicle in accordance with organizational policies and road safety regulations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Driving office vehicles to various destinations as instructed by your immediate supervisor
- Picking up and dropping Baylor staff to and from the office
- Maintaining office vehicles, cleaning, servicing, and making sure that they are always road worthy
- Maintaining the logbooks i.e. fuel monthly return
- Reporting any problem to the responsible officer
- Delivery of RFQs to the appropriate suppliers
- Carrying out various errands such as mail collection and delivery
- Assist in the collection of quotations from different suppliers
- Welcoming the Visitors from the Airport as instructed by your supervisor
- Any other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience
- A valid and clean driving license.
- Minimum qualification of a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
- At least two to three years of professional driving experience; experience with an NGO, hospital, corporate organization, or government institution will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience driving in both urban and rural settings.
- Experience transporting staff, patients, or sensitive goods/documents (particularly within health or field-based programs) will be an added advantage.
- Basic mechanical knowledge with the ability to handle minor vehicle faults and routine checks. No record of serious traffic violations or major accidents (preferred).
