Job Description
The Driver, under the supervision of the Corporate Affairs Manager, will play an active role in the Corporate Affairs department for the Mpatamanga Hydropower Limited (MHPL), also referred to as “the Project”.
The Project is to be undertaken in compliance with Malawi national legislation and Good International Industry Practice including (IFC PS, WB ESF, AfDB, Equator Principles 4 and IFRS accounting standards).
The Driver is responsible for transporting staff, guests, and goods, as well as ensuring the safety and security of the vehicle and its contents. The role involves a high level of professionalism, punctuality, and the ability to adapt to different working environment.
CRITICAL INTERFACES
The Driver will work closely with the Logistics Officer and the Corporate Affairs Manager to provide to provide safe and efficient transportation and logistical support for official duties and corporate engagements.
Responsibilities or duties
Driving & Transportation
- Safely drive staff, guests, and visitors to various destinations within the city, Project area etc.
- Transport documents, packages, and other items as needed.
- Ensure timely and efficient travel, adhering to all traffic rules and road safety guidelines.
Vehicle Maintenance
- Perform regular checks and maintenance on the assigned vehicle (e.g., oil changes, tire pressure, fuel levels).
- Ensure the vehicle is clean, well-maintained, and fully operational at all times.
- Report any vehicle issues or damage to the maintenance department or supervisor.
Scheduling & Planning
- Coordinate daily routes, ensuring punctuality for appointments, meetings, and events.
- Assist in planning travel itineraries based on the needs of the organization and any special requirements.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a high standard of safety for all passengers and ensure seat belts are used at all times.
- Follow international road safety regulations and adhere to local traffic laws in all regions traveled.
- Ensure the vehicle is insured, registered, and compliant with all applicable legal requirements.
Record Keeping
- Maintain detailed records of mileage, fuel consumption, maintenance, and repairs.
- Record any incidents or accidents, ensuring timely reporting to the appropriate authorities and supervisors.
