Alliance One Tobacco (Malawi) Limited is a subsidiary of a trusted provider of responsibly sourced, independently verified, sustainable and traceable agricultural products and ingredients, operating in Malawi servicing the needs of its shareholders and their customers.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Supervise the receipt and scanning of packed tobacco into the warehouse, ensuring compliance with established procedures.
  • Ensure stocks received from production accurately tally with SAP records and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Monitor stacking, layout, and storage of tobacco according to container lots and inspection instructions.
  • Receive inspection and dispatch instructions from the DLS Controller, Blending Department and account holders and communicate them to the warehouse foreman.
  • Verify that tobacco grades, quantities, and labeling correspond with issued instructions prior to inspection and dispatch.
  • Supervise de-stacking, loading, and dispatch activities to ensure correct grades and quantities are shipped
  • Inspect containers or break bulk cargo to confirm suitability for loading and ensure all checklists are fully completed
  • Prepare and submit daily reports on warehouse activities, including bulging cases, broken strappings, re-weighing, and dispatch status.
  • Supervise, coach, and guide warehouse staff on work procedures, safety standards, and operational discipline.
  • Address minor disciplinary issues and escalate major concerns in line with company procedures.
  • Enforce safety, sanitation, and housekeeping standards to maintain a clean and safe warehouse environment.
  • Ensure proper use, care and routine inspection of company equipment, including forklifts and handling tools

Qualifications or requirements

  • Diploma or equivalent qualification in Logistics, Warehousing, Supply Chain, or related field with at least three years post qualification experience
  • Proven experience in warehouse supervision, preferably in tobacco or FMCG operations.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or inventory management systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and reporting skills
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to safety.
