About the Role
Kwacha Farms and Agro Dealer Enterprise is seeking a qualified, experienced, and motivated Farm Manager to oversee and manage its farming operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for crop production, staff supervision, farm operations, and financial management.
Key Responsibilities
Crop Production & Management
- Develop and implement seasonal crop production plans.
- Manage planting schedules, irrigation, fertilization, and crop rotation.
- Monitor crop health and identify pest infestations, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
- Ensure timely interventions to maintain crop productivity.
- Supervise harvesting activities and ensure produce is harvested, sorted, and stored according to quality standards.
Team Leadership & Farm Operations
- Recruit, train, and supervise farm workers and seasonal employees.
- Prepare daily and weekly work plans.
- Assign tasks and monitor staff productivity and performance.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and labor regulations.
Business & Financial Management
- Manage farm budgets and monitor operational expenditures.
- Oversee procurement of seeds, fertilizers, agrochemicals, and equipment.
- Maintain inventory records and manage supplier relationships.
- Keep accurate records of production, costs, sales, and overall farm performance.
- Support decision-making through profitability and performance analysis.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Crop Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in farm management or crop production.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of modern farming practices and irrigation systems.
- Experience in pest and disease management.
- Ability to maintain farm records and manage budgets effectively.
- Proven ability to supervise and motivate farm staff.
