TOBIA Farms is looking for a Farm Manager to join our team. As an expert in your field, you will be expected to oversee daily operations, including crop cultivation, livestock management, and personnel supervision, to ensure profitable, efficient, and safe agricultural production.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Operations & Production

  • Plan and execute crop planting, harvesting, and livestock care, ensuring maximum yield.
  • Inspect crops and livestock for diseases or health issues.
  • Manage irrigation systems and soil nutrient levels.
  • Review production data and adjust plans accordingly.

Personnel Management

  • Hire and supervise farm workers and seasonal staff.

Maintenance & Equipment

  • Ensure all machinery and facilities are properly maintained and repaired.

Health & Safety

  • Maintain compliance with government regulations, environmental laws, and safety standards.

Strategic Planning

  • Monitor market trends, weather patterns, and soil/water health to make data-driven decisions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Experience: Proven experience in farm management, agriculture, or a related field.

Technical Skills: Knowledge of and ability to operate farm machinery, irrigation systems, and agricultural technology.

Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills.

Communication: Effective communication skills for interacting with suppliers and staff.

Problem-Solving: Ability to handle unexpected issues such as pest outbreaks, diseases, or extreme weather conditions.

Education: Diploma in Agriculture, Agribusiness, or a related field preferred (Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture is an added advantage).Primary & Secondary Schooling (K-12)

Strong organizational and analytical skills.

Proficiency in farm management software and machinery.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing an integrated commercial farm.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Good business acumen.
  • Ability to identify and communicate problems or concerns related to farm operations effectively.
  • Good people management, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to handle physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Trustworthy and reliable with a high sense of responsibility.
  • Willingness to work and stay in a remote/rural area.
  • Ability to communicate and write reports on daily/weekly farm activities.
  • Ability to manage and balance funds.
  • Willingness to adopt new technology and farming methods.
