You’ll help keep our Finance team perform at its best by developing reports that guide key business decisions and providing the support that keeps everything running seamlessly. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To manage and optimise the overall performance of the financial department by providing leadership and ensure compliance to company best practice and legislative requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Play a key role in the implementation of PEP Africa growth strategy to ensure profitability
  • Manage the country finance team to maximize the department’s outputs
  • Structure and clarify roles, responsibilities and standards of performance for team members
  • Ensure accurate accounting and reporting in line with Pepkor Group and IFRS requirements
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of all taxes and full compliance with tax regulations
  • Manage an effective in-country treasury function aligned with central standards and procedures
  • Make recommendations for changes to procedures, operating systems, budgets & financial control functions
  • Ensure alignment with the company’s centralized processes, procedures and systems
  • Prepare annual budgets for approval
  • Play a key role to ensure profitability – including cost control, exchange rates, etc
  • Manage the import function
  • Monitor and manage cost and prepare monthly variance analysis for presentation to management
  • Drive and monitor compliance to standards, policies and procedures
  • Keep abreast of changes and ensure compliance to Malawi’s financial regulations and legislation, especially regarding foreign exchange policies; repatriation of funds and relevant tax systems and tax or investment benefits or opportunities
  • Ad hoc tasks.

JOB INCUMBENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Accounting/Financial Management or related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years’ Finance experience, including 2 years in a Finance managerial role
  • Work experience in an audit firm or audit unit in a company is preferred
  • Computer literacy: Advanced including an accounting package
  • Willingness to travel within and outside Malawi
  • English skills: Advanced
  • Malawi Citizen.
  • Computer Hardware
