Background
The Malawi Network of AIDS Service Organizations (MANASO) is looking for a dynamic, qualified, and highly experienced individual to fill the position of Finance Officer.
Position Details
The Finance Officer will report directly to the Executive Director and receive technical guidance from the Head of Finance and Administration. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily financial transactions, payments, recording, and monitoring of project funds. The incumbent will work closely with the Finance Manager and other project team members. As part of the finance team, the Finance Officer will maintain a complete filing system to support audits and ensure compliance with donor reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project funds through a compliant financial management and reporting system.
- Ensure accuracy and timely recording of financial transactions through daily verification.
- Ensure finance procedures, systems, and controls operate efficiently and effectively.
- Prepare accurate donor-required reports and ensure timely dissemination in collaboration with program management, M&E, and finance teams.
- Produce financial and budget reports, develop procedures and guidelines, monitor project budgets, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure compliance with Global Fund regulations.
- Track budget expenditure against approved budgets and provide recommendations to management.
- Ensure integrity and effective control of financial, material, human resources, and organizational assets.
- Ensure timely validation of district activity justifications.
- Review and analyze assessments, monitoring reports, trip reports, and monthly updates to inform follow-up actions.
- Perform any other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Studies, or an equivalent qualification.
- Working knowledge of accounting software packages.
- Registration and good standing with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM).
- Professional qualification such as ACCA or CIMA.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in a financial management role.
- Experience working with Global Fund projects will be an added advantage.
