The Malawi School of Government (MSG) is a unique higher education Statutory Corporation established under the Act of Parliament No. 33 of 2022. Our core mission is to shape Malawi’s present and future by developing and delivering human resource development programmes and enhancing the capacity of the public and private sectors through education and training, research, consultancy, and advisory services.
MSG invites suitably qualified, motivated, and agile candidates to fill the following vacant positions tenable at its Secretariat, Mpemba Campus (formerly known as Staff Development Institute (SDI) and Kanengo Campus (formerly Malawi Institute of Management):
Responsibilities or duties
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Management
- Review, Implement and monitor sound financial control mechanisms
- Generate and review general ledger codes in the accounting system
- Support preparation of sectional budget and monitor its implementation
- Initiate and prepare timely financial accounting statements and tax returns as required
- Manage Payables
- Authorize payments and keep accounting documents
- Process staff salaries and advances
- Manage Receivables
- Monitor revenue collection, banking and expenditure
- Manage Reconciliation
- Reconcile books of accounts
- Facilitate Auditing
- Facilitate, coordinate and prepare audit schedules
- Attend to audit queries
- Maintain Fixed Asset Register
- Supervision
- Allocate work and appraise staff
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Qualifications and Other Attributes
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy from an accredited University by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE)
- Proven ICT skills, especially in developing and producing financial reports
- Must be registered with a professional association in Malawi.
Experience needed
- 3 years of relevant experience.
