Background
The Malawi Accountants Board (MAB) is the regulatory body of the accountancy profession in Malawi, established to promote, develop and regulate the accountancy profession in accordance with the Public Accountants and Auditors Act No 5 of 2013.
MAB is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position of FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION MANAGER tenable at its Offices in Blantyre.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Finance and Administration Manager will be responsible for financial management, budgeting, financial reporting, administration, human resource management, governance, risk management and compliance to support the achievement of MAB’s strategic objectives.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the preparation and implementation of annual budgets, work plans and financial forecasts.
- Develop and maintain effective financial management systems, internal controls and accountability frameworks.
- Monitor revenue, expenditure, cash flow and financial sustainability initiatives.
- Prepare timely management accounts, quarterly reports and annual financial statements.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and oversee implementation of audit recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with the Public Finance Management Act, accounting standards and other statutory requirements.
- Organize and provide secretariat support to the Audit and Finance Committee.
- Manage the MAB’s administrative operations and institutional support services.
- Oversee procurement planning and ensure compliance with procurement laws and MAB policies.
- Manage relationships with outsourced service providers, suppliers and oversee insurance of Board assets.
- Oversee payroll administration and support the implementation of human resource policies and performance management systems.
- Coordinate recruitment, staff development, succession planning and employee welfare initiatives.
- Promote a high-performance culture through staff motivation, teamwork and productivity enhancement.
- Coordinate governance, risk management, fraud prevention and internal control initiatives.
- Prepare management, Board and Committee reports and support the implementation of institutional strategic initiatives and public sector reforms.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or Finance is a MUST and professional qualification such as ICAM, ACCA, CIMA, CPA is a MUST.
- Registered with the Malawi Accountants Board and a member of ICAM.
- Knowledge of local and international accounting practices, financial management practices and relevant legislation.
- Minimum 3 years in finance and administration in a professional or similar institution.
