Background

Stockbrokers Malawi Limited is a licensed stockbroker under the Securities Act and provides agent broking services to clients who invest on the stock and money market in Malawi. The company is seeking applications for the positions of Finance and Administration Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • To manage accounting, information technology and administration functions.
  • To ensure smooth operations of the company on a day-to-day basis through excellent customer service, full compliance with regulatory requirements, adherence to internal operating procedures and effective reporting to the CEO and the Board on matters of oversight.
  • Timely preparation of monthly management accounts and annual financial statements in line with accounting standards.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws and other applicable financial regulations.
  • Timely preparation and submission of the budget for approval and effective monitoring and control of the budget.
  • Coordinate audits and liaise with internal and external auditors, tax authorities and regulators.
  • Preparation and submission of returns to regulators.
  • Oversee client funds accounts by ensuring that funds received are invested promptly and that client funds and other key account balances reconciliations are carried out on a regular basis.
  • Ensure clients’ and company’s securities are kept secure and properly recorded.
  • Manage cash flows, capital adequacy monitoring and liquidity planning.
  • Ensure that appropriate internal controls are always in place.
  • Oversee human resources administration, payroll, and statutory remittances.
  • Supervise finance and administrative staff and support performance management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, finance or any other related discipline.
  • Professional accounting qualification preferably CA (M) by ICAM or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably within a financial services institution and/or external audit experience.
  • Proficiency in computerized accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications.
