Habitat for Humanity Malawi has established Timange EcoBuild Limited, a for-profit social enterprise focused on the production of sustainable building materials and property development. The enterprise currently operates a stabilized soil and concrete block production facility based in Machinjiri, Blantyre.
Habitat For Humanity Malawi on behalf of Timange EcoBuild Limited is inviting applications for the position of Finance & Administration Officer as detailed below:
Responsibilities or duties
Financial Management and Reporting:
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, budgets, and forecasts for review by the Plant Manager.
- Ensure strict compliance with Malawian financial regulations, tax laws, and internal Habitat for Humanity Malawi policies.
- Support the Plant Manager in financial planning and analysis to ensure the company’s long-term sustainability.
Accounting Operations:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
- Maintain a comprehensive and organized filing system for all financial vouchers and supporting documentation.
- Ensure timely payment of suppliers and statutory obligations (MRA, TEVET, Pension, etc.)
Administration and Office Management:
- Manage general office operations, ensuring a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
- Oversee the procurement process for raw materials and office supplies, ensuring transparency and value for money.
- Manage the company’s asset register and ensure all equipment and facilities are properly insured and maintained.
Human Resource and Supervision:
- Supervise and appraise subordinate staff, including Drivers and Office Assistants
- Facilitate the onboarding of new staff and ensure all team members adhere to company policies and the safeguarding covenant.
Fleet and Logistics Oversight:
- Supervise the Driver to ensure company vehicles are operated safely and maintained according to schedule.
- Monitor fuel usage, logbooks, and vehicle movement to optimize transport efficiency.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., partial or full ACCA, CIMA, or ICAM) is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and advanced Excel skills,
Experience needed
Experience
- At least not less than 3 years’ experience in the construction industry.
