Job Overview
The Financial Accountant will oversee the company’s accounting and financial reporting functions while supporting management in financial decision-making and compliance.
- Reporting to: Managing Director
- Employment Type: Full Time
- Location: Nchalo, Malawi
The Role
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions
- Supervise junior accounting staff
- Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register
- Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Manage payroll processing, bank reconciliations, and cash flow
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal audit requirements
- Ensure timely remittance of statutory obligations (PAYE, Withholding Tax, etc.)
- Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies
- Collaborate with operations teams to improve cost-efficiency
- Provide financial performance reports to management
- Support management in financial decision-making and policy formulation
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Managing Director
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution
- Professional qualification (ICAM, ACCA, CIMA) is an added advantage
- Minimum of three (3) years’ proven experience working as an Accountant
