Background

K&G Engineering and Services is a fast-growing construction and engineering company involved in civil works, petroleum infrastructure, mechanical and electrical installations, and related technical services. The company seeks a competent and experienced Foreman to supervise and coordinate site activities, ensuring quality workmanship, adherence to drawings, and timely project completion.

Position Purpose

The Foreman is responsible for supervising construction works on site, coordinating labor and materials, ensuring compliance with technical drawings and specifications, and maintaining quality, safety, and productivity standards. The role bridges management and site workers, ensuring efficient execution of assigned projects.

Reporting Structure

Reports To:

  • Maintenance and Operations Manager
  • Projects and Maintenance Engineer

Works Closely With:

  • Site Engineers
  • Safety Officer
  • Skilled and semi-skilled workers
  • Subcontractors and suppliers

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Site Supervision and Coordination

  • Supervise and coordinate daily site activities and workforce.
  • Allocate tasks to workers and ensure work is executed according to drawings and specifications.
  • Interpret and read technical drawings accurately for proper implementation.
  • Monitor workmanship to ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Ensure projects are completed within specified timelines.

Technical Execution

  • Oversee construction activities including masonry, concrete works, structural works, finishing works, and general building tasks.
  • Ensure correct measurements, alignment, and levels in accordance with drawings.
  • Monitor use of materials to minimize wastage and control costs.
  • Identify and resolve minor technical issues on site before escalation.

Labor and Resource Management

  • Supervise skilled and semi-skilled laborers.
  • Monitor attendance, productivity, and discipline of site workers.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are used properly and maintained.
  • Coordinate delivery and storage of materials on site.

Health and Safety Compliance

  • Enforce site safety procedures and ensure compliance with company safety standards.
  • Ensure workers use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Support the Safety Officer in implementing safe work practices.
  • Report hazards, unsafe acts, and incidents promptly.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Provide daily progress updates to management.
  • Record material usage and site activities.
  • Report any delays, defects, or technical concerns to supervisors.
  • Assist in preparation of site reports when required.

Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

Academic and Professional Qualifications

  • Grade 2 Trade Certificate in Foremanship and Building or equivalent qualification.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in an engineering or construction company.
  • At least 10 years of hands-on building and construction experience.
  • Proven experience supervising site teams and managing construction works.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately.

Knowledge Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of building construction methods and materials.
  • Understanding of site measurement, levelling, and alignment techniques.
  • Knowledge of construction safety practices.
  • Ability to manage labor and maintain discipline on site.
