General Fitter & Turner

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Performing maintenance, repair, and fabrication of mechanical parts and components.
• Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and designs to ensure precision in machining and fitting work.
• Ensuring all fitting and turning work is carried out efficiently and safely in accordance with company standards.
• Maintaining workshop tools and machinery in good working condition.
• Collaborating with other departments to minimize downtime during plant maintenance and repairs.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess:

• Grade 1 or Advanced City & Guilds Certificate in Fitting & Turning or a related field.
• A minimum of five (5) years’ proven experience in a similar industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience in machine shop operations.

Required Skills and Attributes

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and mechanical designs.
• Physically fit and capable of working in a demanding industrial environment.
• Proficiency in operating the following machinery:
  • Lathe Machines
  • Milling Machines
  • Dalfit DS12 Slot Machine
  • Jungenthal KE1200 Vertical Borer
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
• Strong problem-solving and technical skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
