The company is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position of Group Forestry Officer.

The successful candidate will report to the Managing Director.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop forestry objectives, strategies, and operational plans.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor routine forestry activities including planting, weeding, pruning, thinning, and harvesting.
  • Plan and supervise forestry projects and nursery management.
  • Manage annual forestry inventory and reporting programmes.
  • Plan and manage felling programmes and raw material supply.
  • Coordinate construction and maintenance of forest access roads, trails, and bridges.
  • Implement environmental conservation initiatives including soil and water conservation.
  • Promote a strong safety culture in all forestry operations including pre-harvest site planning and risk assessments.
  • Ensure annual training for harvesting teams and chainsaw operators.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and Malawian safety regulations.
  • Protect indigenous forests and maintain environmental sustainability.

Applicants must have the following qualification and attributes:

  • A minimum of a Diploma in Forestry or Forestry Science
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Forestry Management, planning and management of timber harvesting operations
  • Strong IT and administration skills for planning and record keeping purposes
  • Time management skills
  • Interpersonal relationship skills
  • Technical problem-solving skills
  • Sound knowledge in health and safety principles.
