1. Background

Chipunga Farms Limited is committed to managing and developing staff through fair, transparent, and merit-based human resource practices. In line with our Human Resources Policy and Procedure Manual (2021), we seek to recruit a qualified and motivated Human Resources Intern to support HR functions and gain practical workplace experience.

2. Purpose of the Role

The HR Intern will assist the Human Resources department in implementing HR policies, procedures, and administrative functions, while gaining hands-on experience in:

  • Recruitment
  • Induction
  • Training
  • Employee relations

3. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in recruitment processes (job descriptions, shortlisting, scheduling interviews)
  • Support employee induction programs and documentation
  • Maintain and update employee records in compliance with HR policies
  • Assist in coordinating training and development activities
  • Support performance management and appraisal documentation
  • Monitor attendance, leave records, and staff files
  • Promote adherence to company policies (conduct, EEO, workplace safety)
  • Assist in HR correspondence and filing systems
  • Participate in HR projects and general administrative duties

4. Qualifications and Requirements

  • Degree in Human Resource Management from a reputable institution
  • Recent graduate
  • Basic understanding of HR principles and labour laws in Malawi
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

5. Skills and Competencies

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Professional conduct and ethical behaviour
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative

6. Working Conditions

  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Must adhere to company policies on attendance, conduct, dress code, and confidentiality
