Background

The Haukeland House Manager is responsible for the overall efficient operation of the LION Guest House. This role oversees all aspects of guesthouse management, including customer service, budgeting, accounting, human resources, and facility maintenance. The manager leads the guesthouse team to ensure high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and security are met while fostering a welcoming environment for guests and international partners.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Guest Services:

  • Ensure excellent customer service for all guests, addressing complaints efficiently and effectively.
  • Oversee daily operations of housekeeping, maintenance, gardening, and front-of-house staff.
  • Develop and manage work schedules, assign tasks, and monitor staff performance to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Conduct regular inspections of work areas to guarantee cleanliness, safety, and adherence to standards.
  • Manage the inventory of all supplies, equipment, linen, and towels, ordering new stock as needed.
  • Ensure all equipment is in proper working order and arrange for repairs when necessary.

Finance & Administration:

  • Develop and manage the Haukeland House budget in collaboration with the LION management team, planning for growth and sustainability.
  • Issue bills to guests, record receipts and payments, and maintain accurate accounts for the facility.
  • Produce monthly management and financial reports.
  • Oversee stock taking and procurement processes.
  • Manage the inventory of all supplies and equipment.

Security & Safety:

  • Manage guest house security protocols, including issuing remote alarms to guests.
  • Ensure all safety regulations are followed, including the use of recommended protective wear.
  • Report any faults, damages, or safety hazards to the maintenance department immediately.

Human Resources & Team Management:

  • Lead, supervise, and provide a supportive role for the Haukeland House team.
  • Create schedules for cleaning personnel, including assigning tasks and setting deadlines.
  • Review employee work performance to ensure it meets quality and efficiency standards.
  • Stand in for any staff member who is unavailable to ensure coverage is maintained.

Stakeholder Relations:

  • Maintain cordial and professional relationships with international partners, guests, and suppliers.
  • Foster good relationships with the managers of other LION units.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in a supervisory role within the hospitality/service industry.
  • Excellent leadership, detail-oriented, and a demonstrated commitment to customer service.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Effective interpersonal, diplomatic, and listening skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Passionate about high-quality services, friendly, honest, and self-disciplined.
