Background

CARE International in Malawi is a non-governmental organization working to empower Malawians to overcome poverty and injustice. CARE has been working in Malawi since 1998, implementing programs in areas such as food security, health, education, and women's empowerment.

Responsibilities

The Head of Programs and Partnership will be responsible for:

  • Leading the development and implementation of CARE Malawi's program strategy.
  • Managing and overseeing the program portfolio, ensuring quality and impact.
  • Building and maintaining strong partnerships with government, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Mobilizing resources and contributing to fundraising efforts.
  • Ensuring effective monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems.
  • Representing CARE Malawi in relevant forums and networks.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Master's degree in a relevant field such as development studies, social sciences, public administration, or a related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in program management, partnership development, and leadership within the development sector, preferably in Malawi or a similar context.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, program design, implementation, and M&E.
  • Strong understanding of the Malawian development landscape and key actors.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in English and Chichewa is an asset.

Experience

A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is required.
