POSITION SUMMARY
The Hotel Accountant will be responsible for overseeing Simama Hotel’s financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, and regulatory compliance. This is a pivotal role that ensures financial accuracy, effective cost control, and sound accounting practices that underpin the hotel’s profitability and long-term growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare comprehensive financial statements, perform account reconciliations, and manage month-end and year-end close processes.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and conduct detailed variance analysis to support informed decision-making.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, monitor all financial transactions, and verify supporting documentation.
- Establish and maintain robust internal financial controls to safeguard company assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Support internal and external audit processes and maintain accurate, well-organised financial records.
- Manage accounting software systems and generate timely, accurate financial reports for senior management.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- Professional certification (ACCA, ICAM, or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in hotel or hospitality sector finance.
- Proficiency in hospitality accounting systems such as Opera, QuickBooks, or Sage, as well as advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and time-management capabilities.
- Thorough knowledge of IFRS standards and applicable local tax legislation is essential.
