Background
JOG Enterprise is local fundraising arm of Saint John of God Hospitaller Services – a non-profit, faith-based health and social care organization established in 1994 to contribute to the development of health for all Malawians by providing comprehensive community mental health care and disability inclusion services targeting the most vulnerable, marginalized and excluded groups in the society. The initiative offers landscape development and maintenance services, catering and conference facilities, cleaning and screen-printing services. Proceeds from the business help subsidise cost of medication and care services for persons with mental illness, disabilities, older persons and vulnerable others entrusted in our care within our facilities in both Lilongwe and Mzuzu.
In addition, Saint John of God uses these services as part of therapeutical rehabilitation for persons recuperating from mental illness, those with disabilities and other vulnerable persons and to economically empower such persons by providing them with supported employment.
The Position
Reporting to the Housekeeping and Catering Supervisor, the Housekeeper will be responsible for the provision of housekeeping services and other areas decided by the supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize rooms, including making beds, dusting, vacuuming and cleaning bathrooms
- Replenish room supplies such as towels, toiletries and other amenities
- Replace linens and towels, ensuring they meet Lodge standards of cleanliness
- Report any maintenance or repair issues in rooms to the maintenance department
- Adhere to safety and sanitation policies to ensure rooms are safe and hygienic
- Respond to guest requests for additional supplies or services promptly and courteously
- Adhere to established cleaning procedures and timelines to ensure rooms are prepared before check-in
Requirements
- Malawi School Certificate of Education
- Those with a Certificate in Housekeeping /Hotel Management from a recognised college will have added advantage
- At least two years post qualification experience
- Strong attention to detail to ensure rooms are thoroughly cleaned and stocked
- Sober and team player with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Strick adherence our Vulnerable Adult and Child Protection Policy
