OVERVIEW

Ekhaya Farms Foods, a subsidiary of Ekhaya Group of Companies and a fast-growing retail food chain in Malawi. We are seeking vibrant, dedicated, and experienced individual to join our HR team in Blantyre.

Job Purpose

The Human Resources Officer will support the effective delivery of HR services across Ekhaya Group, including recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, performance management, HR administration, and compliance with labor laws and company policies. The role ensures efficient HR processes, supports staff needs, promotes best HR practices, and contributes to the achievement of organizational objectives through a positive and compliant workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate recruitment and selection processes, including job adverts, shortlisting, interviews, and onboarding.
  • Provide HR services to employees, including responding to HR queries, administering benefits, and supporting staff welfare initiatives.
  • Maintain updated job descriptions, contracts, and organizational charts.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee concerns, grievances, and welfare matters.
  • Support conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, and employee relations in line with company policies.
  • Administer performance management processes including goal setting, appraisals, and reviews.
  • Identify training needs, coordinate staff development, and track training outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, attendance, leave, and payroll inputs.
  • Prepare HR reports such as headcount, turnover, leave balances, and HR service metrics.
  • Liaise with Finance to ensure accurate payroll processing, statutory compliance, and benefits administration.
  • Ensure adherence to Malawi labor laws, health & safety regulations, and company HR policies.
  • Assist in developing and updating HR policies, procedures, and manuals.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives to boost morale, motivation, and retention.
  • Coordinate HR audits and provide required documentation.
  • Perform any other HR-related duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications & Work Experience

  • Diploma in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2–4 years’ experience in HR, preferably in retail or FMCG sector.
  • Knowledge of Malawi labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with HR/payroll systems is an advantage.

  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Be organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be proactive, solution-oriented, and a team player.
  • Uphold high professional and ethical standards.
