PST invites applications from skilled professionals to serve as an Impact Assessor to support our work improving Early Childhood Development across Malawi by conducting teacher & classroom observations, child development assessments, and centre quality reviews. Engagement is on an Independent Service Provider Contract, with remuneration based on verified assignments completed.Freelance work opportunities

Core responsibilities include:

  • Conduct structured teacher and classroom observations
  • Carry out simple child development assessments following standard exercise scripts
  • Record centre infrastructure and teacher information
  • Capture data accurately on tablets or mobile systems
  • Submit clear, factual reports without interpretation, coaching or bias
  • Maintain professional and respectful relationships with teachers and communitiesMalawi career insights
  • Participate in assessor training, calibration exercises, and review meetings

Qualification & Experience Required: We welcome applicants who:

  • Hold a Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Development, Education, Psychology, Social Sciences, or similar; Strong preference will be given to Applicants with additional qualifications in Impact and Monitoring, ECD Education, or Public Policy
  • Have 3+ years experience working in ECD centres, educational settings, or professional organisations focussing on monitoring and evaluation
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of classroom environments and child development, with the ability to accurately observe and assess teaching practices and child engagementPrimary & Secondary Schooling (K-12)
  • Speak English and at least one relevant local language.
  • Have strong perceptual skills and have basic digital literacy (tablet or smartphone data entry) and be able to follow scripts and scoring accurately
  • Be punctual and hold careful record-keeping skills
  • Are able to travel to rural communities; Applicants with experience working in low-resource areas will be preferred.
  • Are patient, observant, and respectful of teachers and children.
  • Have access to a computer for data submission, communication, and reporting

Honesty, neutrality, patience, integrity, flexibility, and technological competence are fundamental to this role.
