The Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority (MAGLA) is a parastatal body established under an Act of Parliament to regulate the gaming and lotteries industry in Malawi. To deliver on its core mandate, MAGLA seeks to recruit dynamic, results-oriented, and suitably qualified individuals to fill the following positions:
Key Responsibilities
The Inspectors will be responsible for Conducting regular inspections of gaming and lottery establishments to ensure that all gaming and lottery activities comply with the relevant laws, regulations and licensing requirements.
Specific Duties
- Conducting regular inspections of gaming and lottery establishments to ensure fair play, adherence to rules and the absence of fraudulent activities.
- Addressing and investigating complaints from patrons or stakeholders regarding gaming or lottery operations.
- Reviewing financial records and transactions to detect any discrepancies.
- Verifying that all employees, including dealers and staff hold appropriate licenses and certifications as required by law.
- Compiling reports on inspection findings, investigations and compliance status.
- Collaborating with law enforcement agencies to address illegal gambling activities.
- Assessing and Monitoring Promotional Competitions.
Key Competencies and Attributes
- Strong knowledge of Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Act, Public Audit Act, Public Finance Management Act, Financial Crimes Act, Labour Laws, and other relevant legislation regulating the gaming and lotteries industry.
- High integrity, independence, objectivity, confidentiality and professionalism.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong report writing and presentation abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent report-writing and presentation skills.
- Attention to detail and sound problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to travel extensively and work outside normal working hours when required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in any field.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ practical experience in a related field in a reputable organization.
Remuneration
An attractive salary and benefits package commensurate with the seniority of the position will be offered to the successful candidate.
