OVERVIEW

The Anglican Council in Malawi (ACM) invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Internal Auditor. This is a senior position aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and sound financial management across all operations of the Council. The successful candidate will be reporting functionally to the Board of Finance and administratively to the General Secretary

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive internal audits of all projects under the Anglican Council in Malawi.
  • Conduct internal audit in all institutions directly under the Anglican Council in Malawi.
  • Review financial records, systems, and controls to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.
  • Provide independent assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports with recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitor implementation of audit recommendations and advise management accordingly.
  • Support the Council in promoting accountability and integrity in resource utilization.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Auditing, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional certification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or CIA will be a distinct advantage.
  • At least Three (3) years of proven experience in auditing, preferably in project and institutional audits.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management systems, donor-funded projects, and compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • High levels of integrity, independence, and commitment to professional ethics.
