JOB DETAILS:

International / Cross-Border Truck Driver

Job Purpose

To safely and efficiently transport cargo across international borders while complying with road-transport regulations, customs requirements, company procedures and cross-border documentation requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate heavy commercial trucks on domestic and international routes.
• Transport cargo safely to designated destinations.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Check tyres, brakes, lights, fluids and other critical vehicle systems.
• Ensure cargo is properly loaded, secured and protected.
• Maintain accurate trip, mileage, fuel and delivery records.
• Safely handle and maintain transport documentation.
• Present required documents at border crossings and checkpoints.
• Comply with customs, immigration, road-transport and border-control procedures.
• Maintain communication with the Transport/Fleet Manager throughout journeys.
• Follow approved international routes and schedules.
• Observe driving hours, rest requirements and applicable transport regulations.
• Drive defensively and adjust driving to road, weather and traffic conditions.
• Report accidents, breakdowns, delays and cargo-related incidents immediately.
• Maintain the truck in a clean and serviceable condition.
• Identify and report mechanical defects before they develop into major breakdowns.
• Safeguard company vehicles, cargo and transport documentation.
• Maintain professional conduct when interacting with customs officials, clients, suppliers and other stakeholders.
• Complete delivery documentation and obtain proof of delivery.
• Follow all company security and anti-theft procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

• Valid heavy-vehicle driving licence applicable to the required vehicle category.
• Valid international/cross-border driving permit and any other legally required documentation.
• Proven experience on international/cross-border routes.
• Strong knowledge of regional road networks and border-crossing procedures.
• Experience handling long-distance commercial transport is essential.
• Clean and responsible driving record is highly desirable.
